Where this came from
Scrivio began as an internal tool built to solve one concrete problem: a lot of recorded material, not enough hours to transcribe it, and no appetite for uploading interviews to a service in another jurisdiction. It worked well enough that the obvious next step was to make it available to everyone with the same problem. It is now an independent company and a product in its own right.
What we think
Transcription is not a novelty any more — the models are good and getting better. What is still bad is everything around them: transcripts dumped as undifferentiated text, no way to correct them, no way to annotate them, and terms of service that quietly claim the right to train on your recordings. We think the interesting work is in the hours after the transcript exists, and that where your data lives should be a decision you make rather than one you discover.
Where we are
Switzerland. The company is Swiss, the servers are Swiss, and the applicable law is Swiss — alongside the GDPR, which we apply because our users are European and because it is the right baseline regardless.
