1. Acceptance
By creating an Scrivio account or using the service you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service. If you are using Scrivio on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms for it.
2. What the service is
Scrivio is a hosted web application that transcribes audio and video files you upload, separates the speakers automatically, and provides tools to read, correct, annotate, tag, share and export the result. It is provided over the internet; nothing is installed on your machine.
3. Beta status
Scrivio is in public beta and provided free of charge. It is supplied "as is" and "as available", with no guarantee of uptime, availability, accuracy or continuity. Features may change or be withdrawn. We may impose or adjust usage limits. We will give reasonable notice before any change that would materially reduce what you can do with material you have already uploaded.
4. Your account
You must provide a valid email address and verify it before transcribing. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been compromised. One account is for one person; do not share credentials.
5. Acceptable use
Your use of Scrivio is subject to our Acceptable Use policy, which forms part of these Terms. In short: nothing unlawful, nothing you do not have the right to upload, and no attempt to attack, overload or circumvent the limits of the service.
6. Your content stays yours
You keep all rights in the recordings you upload and the transcripts produced from them. You grant us only the limited licence needed to operate the service for you — to store, process, transcribe and display your material back to you and to anyone you share it with. That licence ends when you delete the material or your account. We do not use your recordings, transcripts or corrections to train or fine-tune any model.
7. Consent of people in your recordings
This is the obligation most easily overlooked, so we state it directly. The people speaking in your recordings have rights, and they have no relationship with us. By uploading a file you warrant that you have the right to do so and that you have obtained any consent or given any notice required by the law that applies to you. You are responsible for that; we have no way to verify it and do not attempt to.
8. Accuracy
Automatic transcription makes mistakes, particularly with background noise, crosstalk, distance from the microphone and strong accents. Transcripts are a draft to be checked, not an authoritative record. Do not rely on an unchecked transcript where accuracy matters — legal, medical, financial or safety-related contexts included. We accept no liability for consequences of relying on an unverified transcript.
9. Availability and limits
We may impose usage limits — currently a monthly audio-minute budget, a maximum file size and duration, and a cap on simultaneous processing — and may adjust them. We may suspend or throttle access to protect the service or other users. We may perform maintenance without notice during the beta.
10. Plans and payment
Scrivio is currently free and there is no paid plan available. No payment method is collected and nothing is charged. If we introduce a paid plan, it will be entirely optional, its price and terms will be shown before you subscribe, and using the free plan will never convert into a charge automatically.
11. Ending the agreement
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings; that deletes your files and your transcripts as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms or the Acceptable Use policy, or where required by law. Except in cases of serious or unlawful misuse, we will try to give you notice and an opportunity to export your material first.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent Swiss law permits, Scrivio is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or loss arising from reliance on a transcript. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence. Because the service is currently provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability is limited accordingly.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The version in force is always published here with its date. For any material change we will notify you by email and ask you to accept the new version before you continue using the service.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the Vienna Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The courts of Switzerland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the EU or EEA, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
